Victor Schoelcher's monument

Before the former Hall of Justice,
this monument stands sculpted by Marquet de Vasselot in memory of Victor Schoelcher. Inaugurated in 1904, it represents the famous abolitionist accompanied by a child. On the pedestal are engraved these famous words : Aucune terre française ne peut plus porter d'esclaves (French grounds cannot bear slaves any more).
