The Diamond Rock, that one sees facing the Diamond township, at 5 kilometers of the coast is one of the glorious symbols of Martinique. In 1804, the English seized of it, baptizing it HMS Diamond Rock. The rock was freed one year later by the French, grace to some hogsheads of rum!
