Native to southeast Asia, the mango tree (Mangifera indica) is cultivated
under the tropics for its soft fruit, the mango, eatable fresh or in preserves.
The mango tree belongs to the Anacardiaceae family, just as the cashew
and the pistachio tree of the Mediterranean regions.
