Heliconia is a genus of the family Heliconiaceae, perennial plants which are found
in subtropical America. Because of its long leaves from 1 to 2 metres, Heliconia
was formerly linked to Musaceae (banana tree) and Strelitziaceae (bird of paradise).
The plant on the photo below is Heliconia Acuminata, native to Brazil.
